Finance Officer - BP&A Job Summary

Job Purpose

• Finance Officer - BP&A will assist BP & A team in preparation and processing information
• Finance Officer - BP&A also help to maintain the Head Office creditors’ payments (accounts payable)
• Assist the Financial controller and provide support during auditing process

Key Responsibilities:

Reporting

•     Finance Officer - BP&A Perform cost analysis month on month
•     Receive and process TM1 extracts as at 10th, 20th, and end month.
•     Provide Reconciliations SAP, Compass and TM1
•     Carry out trend analysis to, measure the accuracy of the data
•     Document all agreed adjustments.
•     Ensure system backups are done
•     Support business units in monthly reporting
•     Provide accurate and timely MI on financial performance of the business as reported to stakeholders
•     Perform daily trend analysis of financials
•     Preparing industry performance synopsis
•     Maintain sound control and process flow of the vendors’ invoice processing under accounts payable.
•     Daily receiving and recording of the vendors’ invoices for payments
•     Processing and scanning of the invoices for the vendor payment process daily through KOFAX.
•     Follow up on the status of the unapproved invoices in the system and advice financial controller on the issues on cockpit.
•     Preparing telegraphic transfers (TT) for the vendors’ payments outside Absa bank Tanzania
•     Preparing the funding entries and updating BSS team
•     Monthly preparation of the amortisation entries for prepaid expenses
•     Preparing monthly accruals journals for major costs (every week 2)
•     Periodical review of the cost accruals against actual costs booked in a month
•     Any other duties as directed by the line manager

•     An Appreciation of the external economic, political, legal and regulatory environment and their impact to the business.

Risk and Control Objective:

•     Manage risk and control effectively by applying applicable risk frameworks and embedding a positive risk culture

•   Understanding of own role in the end-to-end processes in which you play a part, including applicable risks and controls

•   Adhere to Absa’s policies and procedures applicable to own role, demonstrating sound judgment and responsible risk management.

•  Report all risk events / incidents / issues using the defined process for your business area and help to understand why these happened and how to prevent them in future.

• Proactively look for ways to improve the control environment by considering what could go wrong in the processes you operate and how errors could be prevented.
