The Tanganyika Cabinet, administered by President of the Republic of Tanganyika and Father of the Nation late Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere, endorsed the TANU Youth Coalition Resolution on April 19, 1963, and mutually set on to form JKT on July 10, 1963. First, 11 youths from 11 various districts were recruited and trained at Mgulani JKT camp in Dar es Salaam.
Youth union secretaries were the earliest young men dispatched by TANU to Yugoslavia in 1962 to aquire youth leadership education. Ms. Z. Kiango, Mr. S. Chale, Bw. P. Lwegarulira, Bw. R. Kamba, Bw. H. Ngalason, Mr. J. Ndimugwango, Ms. Mhando (Senior Guide), Bw. D. S. Msilu (Master), Mr ES Mwakyambiki are some of these young pioneers.
